Spending a Saturday night in nursing a sore throat … not exactly how I imagined it would be, but perhaps just what I need before my 15 day adventure in China. Came across a fun contest asking to put together a dream outfit featuring two items from American Eagle with a mix of fashionable items from Polyvore for a chance to win $1,000 shopping spree! Here goes nothing – let me know how you like it! Sign up for the contest on your own here!

Just for fun..

Lanvin for H&M sunnies, Wilfred blazer, H&M scarf, top & trousers, Jeffrey Campbell oxfords, Longchamp, vintage watch

So had a bit a time on my hands this weekend and just for fun, thought I would do a mini photoshoot of my “Look of the Day”, inspired by many of my favourite fashion bloggers. I’m absolutely fascinated by how many DSLR toting stylish girls there are out there who manage to take perfect shots, day after day of their super stylish outfits. I’ve been so curious this whole time. Who takes the shots? Where do they get all the money to buy all their clothes? and thought I would give it a try. Definitely an interesting experience … luckily I was with another friend who also understands the obsession with fashion bloggers. Needless to say, our mini photoshoot didn’t go without many giggles and “WTF?!” stares from onlookers. The best was when I got “caught” posing for photos and my good friend was turning into the parking lot. All the makings of a potential accident, but luckily my friend had the sense to stop gawking and pointing at us and laughing. I don’t know how fashion bloggers do it, I tip my hat off to you.

Anyhow, super excited for three upcoming fashion shows!! For someone who’s not been to a legit one before, definitely getting my feet wet and finally getting some exposure to this fascinating industry over the next 3 weeks. First up will be the Heart Truth Fashion Show this Thursday hosted by Edelman (my employer).

The show will boast one-of-a-kind red dresses by top Canadian designers and many influential Canadians will be rocking the runway such as Deborah Cox, Arlene Dickinson, Dina Pugliese and Tre Armstrong. This event is now in its fourth year and it’s purpose is to raise awareness about women’s risk for cardiovascular disease. Really looking forward to it!

Coming up the week after is LGFW, where I was lucky enough to score tickets through Twitter for Angela Chen’s OR show on Friday, April 1st! I’ve never been to Toronto’s Fashion Week before so I’m really excited to see what it’ll hold.

Finally, I’m hoping I’ll finally be able to attend Ryerson’s Mass Exodus Fashion Show. It’s the time of year where they showcase fourth year design student’s collections and there’s also an exhibit displaying students’ final theses. It’s apparently one of the large student-run fashion shows in Canada. Can’t wait!

Are there any fashion bloggers that you love to follow?

Beauty in the Broken

One of my fav woman entrepreneurs of all time has got to be Sally Han, creator and designer of Psalms Jewelry. We’ve had the fortunate opportunity to interview her as part of our Impact I Am My Ambition series in our latest video shoot at the 2010 Impact National Conference. Keep an eye out for her video; it’s going to be a good one! She recently launched her new website featuring online shopping and I couldn’t be more excited and happy for her! The website looks absolutely amazing; great job to her and her team.

While my wallet can’t afford to pick up every piece that’s caught my eye, here are some of my favs from her hand made collection:

Girlie Jewellery Earrings – $32

Hearts

Cape Verde – $136

Turquoise

Life – $42
