It is one busy time of the year! Programs are launching left and right at work, got my hands full with planning a few events coming up including The Spirit of Canadian Entrepreneurs bringing my two worlds together and the last big @ImpactOrg event, the Impact National Conference (pssst go sign up now!
). Annd of course, I happen to be leaving on vacation on Friday. While I’m excited to revisit the land of baguettes and vespas, I’m also feeling a little apprehensive to be leaving now. Although I know the world will still turn while I’m away (I’ve got the best colleagues and team members any girl could ask for) – it’s just going to take some getting used to being unplugged during one of the busiest times of the year.
That said, I’m uber excited to be visiting Europe again. It seemed like it was so long ago when we impulsively bought tickets to go to Paris at $750 a pop, and all of a sudden the vacation has creeped up on us! Planning to check out Paris, Bratislava, Vienna and Prague in a matter of 10 days. Sounds like it’s going to be more of a trek rather than a relaxing vacation, but I’m definitely going to make sure I get some time in to munch on baguettes jambon et fromage, crepe nutelles, macaroons and all of the above x5. I’m most excited to go back to my old neighbourhood in Quartier Latin and revisit my old school, La Sorbonne, the tiny church that was the most beautiful of all to me in Paris, Jardin du Luxembourg et plus. Going to be a bit embarrassing trying to get around with my awkward French but hopefully it’ll all come flowing back to me like it was just yesterday. It was only two years ago that I did my exchange in Paris, but it feels like it’s been forever. I CAN’T WAIT!
I haven’t blogged in awhile; I blame partly that on the fact that there’s been so much going on and haven’t had the chance to log in and reflect, but the other half of it is that I don’t feel like blogging unless I have something truly meaningful or personal to share. There’s a certain level of expectation, ie. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time when they’re reading my blog, but at the same time, this is my space and I should feel comfortable to write about whatever I please. So there we go, this is your way out if you haven’t found anything remotely interesting about this post yet
So what else has been going on in my world?
I’ve been invited to speak at York Marketing Association event hosted at Schulich tomorrow night called Marketing for Dummies where I’ll be joining a few other marketing professionals to share what it’s like to work in a PR agency with aspiring marketing/business students. Coincidentally, there’s been another gig in the works with UTSC’s Coop Student Association which happens to fall on the night after (October 6th) where I will be speaking at the Social Media Networking 101 event. I will be sharing how students can benefit by using Twitter to market themselves and how to create their own personal brand online. Should be lots of fun! I’m definitely looking forward to the opportunity as it really hits home since I was just a coop student a few months ago before graduating. Hopefully I’ll be able to help them out just by sharing how Twitter and being online has helped me!
